David Reed
David is a actor, comic improviser, writer and musician currently living in London.
David had a starring role in the Channel 4 sketch show Ain’t It Funny, broadcast in October 2007 and plays the role of Peter Cook opposite Little Britain’s David Walliams in the upcoming Frankie Howerd biopic for BBC4, to be broadcast in 2008. Alongside the other Dreadfuls he will also appear in BBC3’s Wrong Door, a new sketch show, of which he was also a contributing writer.
David has performed improvised comedy since 2001 with Edinburgh based troupes The Improverts, The Stand Players and London’s own Spontaneity Shop, as well as with the Penny Dreadfuls’ run of improv shows in Edinburgh, Glasgow and at the Glastonbury Festival. He now teaches improvisation professionally.
David has been the drummer for popular English performance poet, musician and songwriter John Hegley on numerous occasions, including his 2004 Edinburgh Fringe show Uncut Confetti.
David’s theatre acting credits include lead roles in dramatic productions of The Country Wife, Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?, Victory, The Creation of the World (And Other Business) and Noises Off.
David has co-written with Thom The Crab Nebula, an adaptation of Eric Chevillard’s post-modern novel, and a trilogy of pantomimes.
